I, the hoi polloi: By Ranam Adhikari

I am very much thankful to my brother and friend Mr. Ranam Adhikari for sending such a very worthy article which represents the commom situation of most of the people in our country.

I don’t have a delusion of grandeur. I know my limits - I am the hoi polloi. I don’t understand the obfuscations and rarefied esoteric jargons of your politics but don’t gullibly succumb to complete apathy and swallow your porky pies; hook, line and sinker. One need not know the whole rigamarole of body anatomy to say that he has a headache. Your placebo isn’t gonna work on muggins here because I am not in the habit of feigning anything, the artifice you are wizard at.

HR Department-It’s Interesting

True story. Office Humor:

After 2 years of selfless service, a man realized that he has not been promoted, no transfer, no salary increment, no commendation. So he decided to walk up to his HR Manager. His manager looked at him, smiled and asked him to sit down saying: ‘My friend you have not worked here for even a single day.’ The man was surprised to hear this, but the manager went on to explain.

Manager: How many days are there in a year?

Man: 365 days and sometimes 366.

Manager: How many hours make up a day?

Man: 24 Hours.

Ant & Grasshopper

Ant & Grasshopper (I have recieved it in my mail. I found it interesting so i post it in my blog)

The Ant works hard in the withering heat all summer
building its house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The Grasshopper thinks the Ant is a fool and laughs &
dances & plays the summer away.

Come winter, the Ant is warm and well fed. The
Grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in
the cold.

Love is a Fallacy : Max Shulman

I have read this story some years ago and still i love to read it from time to time. It is nice to read and it has given some interesting logics. Many of you may have read this and who don’t have, i hope you do not miss the chance. Read it sincerely you will be refreshed. In my case, i have to read it more than 3 times to get properly understood. But, till today i have read it a lots of time. Hope you will be enjoyed.

Cool was I and logical. Keen, calculating, perspicacious, acute and astute—I was all of these. My brain was as powerful as a dynamo, precise as a chemist’s scales, as penetrating as a scalpel. And—think of it!—I only eighteen.

It is not often that one so young has such a giant intellect. Take, for example, Petey Bellows, my roommate at the university. Same age, same background, but dumb as an ox. A nice enough fellow, you understand, but nothing upstairs. Emotional type. Unstable. Impressionable. Worst of all, a faddist. Fads, I submit, are the very negation of reason. To be swept up in every new craze that comes along, to surrender oneself to idiocy just because everybody else is doing it—this, to me, is the acme of mindlessness. Not, however, to Petey.

The Rose - Author Unknown

John Blanchard stood up from the bench, straightened his Army uniform, and studied the crowd of people making their way through Grand Central Station. He looked for the girl whose heart he knew, but whose face he didn’t, the girl with the rose. His interest in her had begun thirteen months before in a Florida library. Taking a book off the shelf he found himself intrigued, not with the words of the book, but with the notes penciled in the margin. The soft handwriting reflected a thoughtful soul and insightful mind. In the front of the book, he discovered the previous owner’s name, Miss Hollis Maynell. With time and effort he located her address. She lived in New York City. He wrote her a letter introducing himself and inviting her to correspond.

Feeling something different

From the last few weeks, there has been playing something different kinds of feelings inside me. My heart and mind is not being able to get control over them. Those feelings are trying to take me some other where. They are disturbing my works and study. Actually, they are trying to disturb my every personal and professional thing. They are trying to take me far from my dream met. They are trying to take me away from my family and friends. They are trying to change my dream life and they are trying to disturb my plans and ambitions which I have been thinking from the last many years.

What Life is and isn’t About !

Life isn’t about keeping score. It’s not about how many friends you have. Or how accepted you are. Not about if you have plans this weekend or if you’re alone.

It isn’t about who you’re dating, who you used to date, how many people you’ve dated, or if you haven’t been with anyone at all. It isn’t about who you have kissed, it’s not about sex.

If your father-in-law is a poor man,

“You Are Behind”

A must readable article by Rewati Raman Dhakal, Biratnagar

“Nepal is one of the poorest country in the globe”. I knew this when I was in primary school. “Untouchability, poverty and disparities I see when I was in secondary level”. I found Nepal under debt a decade before in newspaper. But I didn’t paid concern because I was indulged in my solo business study, searching job, doing job.  Continue reading ‘“You Are Behind”’

Life and Struggle-Author Unknown

A man found a cocoon of an emperor moth. He took it home so that he could watch the moth come out of the cocoon.

On the day a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the moth for several hours as the moth struggled to force the body through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no farther. It just seemed to be stuck. Continue reading ‘Life and Struggle-Author Unknown’

A Time to Love

Everywhere, every seconds, there seems some people are being killed, some are being beaten, some are being dominated and some are being compelled to live under the threats. The real meaning of love and peace has been changing day by day and going to be removed from the dictionaries. All the people are becoming more selfish day by day. No one has the feelings of respect towards others. Everyone seems to want more than others and all the time he seems running towards the destination which has no end. Even in the families, there is no any proper understanding between the family members. Individuality is growing everywhere. If any one says that he loves somebody by heart than there rise suspect behind his motive. The movies like “American Beauty” of Hollywood, “Metro” of Bollywood etc. are the lively example of today’s’ world. Continue reading ‘A Time to Love’
